If you really want to get away in the winter and hone your skills on hooking Sailfish on Circle Hooks then you need to come to Isla Mujeres, Mexico, between February 15 to March 15. It's hard to believe that I have been doing this for 10 years now and loving every minute of it.
I run Fin Gaddy's boat, “Qualifier”. It is warm, safe, laid-back and a family oriented atmosphere with good food, reasonable lodging and great sailfishing. A typical day averages 10 to 12 releases per day with roughly 20+ bites. Fifty bites on some days is not unheard of. It's a great place to take a winter break and enjoy the island and see some great fishing.
